AP to introduce new excise policy on Oct 1

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has decided to introduce New Excise Policy from October 1, and to repeal the policy at present under implementation by the previous government to run IMFL shops with the availability of limited brands.
The shops as per the old policy are also run by the government, which came in under severe criticism for selling poor quality liquor at the behest of liquor mafia in a white paper released by the present dispensation. The Cabinet held at Velagapudi under the chairmanship of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday took a major decision to extend ban on CPI (Maoists) and its frontal organisations for another year.
Briefing the media here, State I&PR Minister K Parthasarathy said they would suspend registrations in the Revenue Department for three months and launch passbooks with QR code. He said under the New Excise Policy, their thrust will be to provide quality liquor at low price. The Cabinet discussed the removal of the photo of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on the survey stones, which was done during the rule of YSRCP by spending nearly Rs.700 crore. As per alliance’s promise during the elections, the Cabinet okayed the proposal to remove the provision to disqualify candidates in local body and cooperative elections if they have three children.
